I never had\u00a0only one cat\u00a0<\/span>before but Otis\u00a0<\/span>seemed very\u00a0<\/span>happy alone.\u00a0<\/span>Periodically I\u00a0<\/span>considered\u00a0<\/span>adopting\u00a0<\/span>another but\u00a0<\/span>wasn’t sure if it\u00a0<\/span>would work for\u00a0<\/span>him. I had\u00a0<\/span>previously had\u00a0<\/span>2 sisters and a\u00a0<\/span>brother and a\u00a0<\/span>sister who\u00a0<\/span>grew up\u00a0<\/span>together.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last July\u00a0feral cat had\u00a0<\/span>two kittens in\u00a0<\/span>my backyard.<\/span>
\nThe experts I\u00a0consulted said\u00a0<\/span>to keep\u00a0<\/span>feeding the\u00a0<\/span>mother and\u00a0<\/span>leave the\u00a0<\/span>babies with\u00a0<\/span>her as long as\u00a0<\/span>possible.<\/span>
\nA few\u00a0days later\u00a0<\/span>there were\u00a0<\/span>July storms\u00a0<\/span>and it was\u00a0<\/span>pouring for\u00a0<\/span>days. I feared\u00a0<\/span>the tiny kittens\u00a0<\/span>would not\u00a0<\/span>make it. I went\u00a0<\/span>to the spot that\u00a0<\/span>they had been\u00a0<\/span>but they were\u00a0<\/span>gone.<\/span><\/p>\n

My\u00a0father heard\u00a0<\/span>crying during\u00a0<\/span>the night and\u00a0<\/span>we went out at\u00a0<\/span>6 AM to\u00a0<\/span>investigate.<\/span>
\nWe found two\u00a0soggy tiny\u00a0<\/span>kittens in a\u00a0<\/span>well and took\u00a0<\/span>them.<\/span><\/p>\n

My\u00a0initial intent\u00a0<\/span>was to rescue\u00a0<\/span>them and turn\u00a0<\/span>them over to a s<\/span>o kill shelter.\u00a0<\/span>We took them\u00a0<\/span>to the animal\u00a0<\/span>medical center\u00a0<\/span>to be checked\u00a0<\/span>out.<\/span><\/p>\n

They were\u00a0one month\u00a0<\/span>old sisters.<\/span>
\nThey needed\u00a0to be bottle-fed and\u00a0<\/span>antibiotics for\u00a0<\/span>upper\u00a0<\/span>respiratory\u00a0<\/span>infections.<\/span>
\nThey had\u00a0runny eyes\u00a0<\/span>and needed\u00a0<\/span>ointment. They\u00a0<\/span>had fleas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once I bottle\u00a0fed them the\u00a0<\/span>first time I fell\u00a0<\/span>in love and\u00a0<\/span>knew I would\u00a0<\/span>keep them.<\/span><\/p>\n

They went\u00a0from tiny\u00a0<\/span>hissing balls of\u00a0<\/span>fluff to sweet\u00a0<\/span>affectionate\u00a0<\/span>babies by the\u00a0<\/span>end of the first\u00a0<\/span>day.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is almost\u00a0one year later\u00a0<\/span>and I have\u00a0<\/span>never been so\u00a0<\/span>happy for\u00a0<\/span>circumstances\u00a0<\/span>to work\u00a0<\/span>this way.<\/span><\/p>\n

I love\u00a0my girls Ruby\u00a0<\/span>and Boots with\u00a0<\/span>all my heart\u00a0<\/span>and Otis is\u00a0<\/span>coming to\u00a0<\/span>accept and\u00a0<\/span>play with his\u00a0<\/span>sisters. I\u00a0<\/span>adopted Otis\u00a0<\/span>at 11 months\u00a0<\/span>because I did\u00a0<\/span>not want\u00a0<\/span>kittens again\u00a0<\/span>but I’m so\u00a0<\/span>happy I raised\u00a0<\/span>these girls,\u00a0<\/span>they are so\u00a0<\/span>loving and\u00a0<\/span>bonded to me.<\/span>
\nI’m so grateful\u00a0to have them.<\/span><\/p>\n
